Discovery Weekend is an event for youth held at Ankeny First United Methodist Church for spiritual formation.
- The weekend starts on Friday night and goes through Sunday at noon.
- All activities are lead by the Senior High Youth (9th-12th) and Adults from AFUMC for the Mid-High Youth (6th-8th)
- The weekend is filled with food, games, music, talks, missions, skis, and small groups.
- By the end of the weekend the Youth will have developed a deeper relationship with Christ.
Discovery Weekend '10 will be held on April 23-25th at the Christian Life Center. We are expecting over 125 youth to be involved this year and we need your help!

Ways adults can get involved:
Disciple Groups- assist the senior high in the small groups they also stay overnight at the host homes with the small groups (they are also given the option of being the host home for their small group)
Host Homes- take midhighs to your home to spend the night, shower and eat breakfast (groups will be about 5 midhighs, 2 senior highs, and 1 adult)
Meals/Snack Team- help prepare the meals and snacks for the weekend
Game Team- organize games for the weekend
Photography/Video- take pictures/video of the weekend
Prayer Team- help in the prayer chapel to pray with the youth before they give talks or whenever they need it
Set-Up/Clean-Up Team- set up in advance of various activities and clean up afterwards
Registration and Parent Contact- help with registration the night of the event, and contact parents prior to the event about the prayer service and letters for their child
Medical Team- be on call for emergencies, organize and distribute medications to the youth
Missions Team- help line up mission opportunities and go with the groups Saturday afternoon
Tech Team- help with sound, powerpoint, video, etc. for worship services
Transportation Team- help with provide rides to and from host homes and/or mission sites
Prayer Service- help with organization of the prayer service (Sat. night 6:00-8:00)
Forgiveness Service- help with organization and set up of the forgiveness service (Sat. night 7:00-9:30)
Angels- help with odd jobs that pop up through the weekend, work with groups who have youth that need extra attention, etc.
