Giving Through Your Will

Print E-mail
A Will is one of the most important documents that you will ever sign.  Think about the things a Will allows you to do:

  • A Will lets you specifically direct who (or what church, charities or similar organizations) will receive all the property you have accumulated (with God's blessings) during your lifetime. Without a Will, typically the State will decide who receives what--often with inflexible rules and perhaps with an unforeseen tax burden on your loved ones.
  • Your Will can contain a trust that provides financial security and money management assistance for family members.
  • You can name the persons in your Will who will handle your estate or serve as guardians of your children.
  • Your attorney can draft a Will that allows your family to minimize death and estate taxes and other costs that may deplete your estate of a significant portion of its assets.
  • You can have your Will drafted to express your personal values. You may wish to memorialize a special person or institution (such as your church) in your life, benefit certain relatives or friends, or distribute cherished heirlooms and other possessions to those special people in your life.

Establishing and executing a Will is neither difficult nor expensive. Yet the rewards are great, both in peace of mind, satisfaction and knowing you have eased the burden on your loved ones in their time of sorrow.  Contact an attorney to start your Will today!

If you already have a will great!  Please be sure to keep it up to date with your family needs and personal wishes.  When the time comes to make a change, a simple codicil or amendment often is all that is needed. Your attorney can assist you with that.
