Ministry to the Incarcerated

Print E-mail

The Ministry to the Incarcerated seeks to provide comfort to those in prison, as commanded by Jesus in Matthew 25: "...I was in prison and you visited me....Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me."

The following are activities sponsored by the Ministry to the Incarcerated:

Polk County Jail Visitation

Volunteers meet one-on-one with inmates at the Polk County Jail to provide fellowship, prayer, Bible study, and encouragement from the Body of Christ.

Aftercare Ministry

A group of volunteers provides support to an individual recently release from an area detention facility.

Women at the Well / Stepping Out in Style - Mitchellville Prison

Volunteers are invited to attend the weekly worship service at the Women at the Well congregation. Women at the Well is a United Methodist Church congregation housed totally within the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women at Mitchellville. Pastor Arnette Pint leads the worship service on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm.  Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Stepping Out in Style is a women's clothing facility located at the Mitchellville prison. Donated clothing and personal care items are provided, free of charge, to women who have just been released from the prison. Volunteers staff the facility, as well as donate and sort/stock the clothing items. Stepping Out in Style allows women to re-enter society with the clothing and accessories needed to give them confidence and self-assurance for seeking employment, housing, and other fundamental activities.
