Jan Boehm - Director of Worship Ministry

Jan Boehm first attended Ankeny First United Methodist Church in 1986. One year later, she began serving the church as part-time organist. Her service to the church continued to grow (directed the children's choir, youth choir, and orchestra) to her present position as Director of Worship Ministry. Jan was born and raised a Methodist in the northwestern Iowa town of Anthon and graduated from Drake University with a bachelor in Music Education.· She is married to John, and has 2 grown children: Blair (married to Megan) and Ana.

Jan sees worship through music as a beautiful and fulfilling experience. To help people discover, nurture, and share their talent she finds very rewarding.

Jacque Coulson - Director of Care and Connection

In February 2011, Jacque's position changed as the responsibilities of lay ministry oversight and the caring and health ministry areas were combined.· Jacque is the staff liaison for the Connection Cluster and the Christian Care Cluster.· Jacque started her AFUMC career in August 2000 as the part-time Director of Lay Ministry. In January of 2005, she became Director of Adult Ministry which oversaw lay ministry volunteers as well as adult classes and small groups.

Jacque·has an undergraduate degree from Iowa State University, a graduate degree from Drake University, post-graduate credits from the University of Iowa and DMACC, so she can cheer for any of the sports teams with enthusiasm. ··She worked in health care for 25 years and is a trained Stephen Minister.

She has a daughter, Krista living in the Chicago area. . Jacque's passion is helping people get connected in the church and community through caring ministry and service. You won't be a stranger for long if you let Jacque introduce you to the many opportunities to be involved!

Pat Crownover - Director of Children and Family Ministry

Pat joined the staff at Ankeny First United Methodist Church in June, 2004. She previously served as Director of Christian Education in several United Methodist churches in the North Texas, Oklahoma, and Iowa Conferences. She received her undergraduate degree from Morningside College, Elementary & Middle School Education Degree and Certification from Dakota State University, and pursued a MTh Degree from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Pat has three children·Michael, Kimberly, and Matthew.

Shelly·Kubik - Co-Director of Youth Ministry

Shelly joined the staff as the Youth Ministry Assistant in August of 2002. As of January 2006, she·became Co-Director of Youth Ministry. She works primarily with "Ewe"th Group, the middle school youth group. She also leads CIA, Christians in Action, a prayer group that meets Friday mornings at Parkview Middle School and SWAT, Students With A Testimony, a prayer group that meets at Northview Middle School Tuesdays after school.

Shelly was born and raised in the small southeastern Iowa town of Wayland. She graduated from Iowa State University in May 2005 and is excited to be able to focus solely on the youth.

Kate Pauly - Director of Small Group Ministry

Kate·joined the staff at Ankeny First United Methodist Church in February 2011 as the Director of Small Group Ministry.·Small groups are continually being formed and she would love to help you find a group.· She can also give you information about Alpha, Disciple, Lunch Bunch,·Breaking Bread Fellowship·or Adult Sunday School.·

She received her undergraduate degree from·South·Dakota School of Mines and Technology·and has over 10 years of experience in project management.·Kate's husband·Marshall·is a teacher at Dowling Catholic High·School.· They have two children, Nick and Allie.

Rick Webb - Co-Director of Youth Ministry

Rick joined the staff in January 2006 as Co-director of Youth Ministry. His primary responsibilities are to help coordinate confirmation with the Lead Co-Pastors and focus on the High School large and small group programs. Prior to working in ministry at Ankeny FUMC, Rick was in ministry at Wesley Woods as a counselor and coordinator. He also worked at the Winterset FUMC in the areas of Youth, Education, and Nursery.· Rick's greatest joy in ministry is to help youth grow and mature in their Faith. He also enjoys getting them involved and connected with the Church body to help them in their growth process.

Rick's ·family includes his wife, Becky, ·who is a Kindergarten teacher at North Polk Central Elementary School in Alleman and their son, Carson, who was born in May of 2010· They enjoy all outdoor activities which include camping, hiking, and zipping around the lake on their jet ski.

Dorothy Barnhart·-·Financial Assistant

Dorothy joined the AFUMC team in·September 2010 as our·part-time Financial Assistant.· Dorothy recently retired from full-time work in accounting and chose to continue her profession in a part-time capacity with us.· Dorothy was already acquainted with our financial operation when she joined our staff through her participation·with our audit committee.

Rhonda Garcia - Membership Secretary / Office Assistant

Rhonda joined the staff in January 2007 as Membership Secretary / Office Assistant. Her responsibilities include tracking of births, baptisms, marital status, deaths, membership transfers and any individual information changes. She also processes information for New Member Classes and Worship Attendance.

Marla Layton - Sports and Fitness Activities Coordinator

Marla joined the staff in May of 2011 as our Sports and Fitness Activities Coordinator. Her main responsibilities include planning, organizing, and visioning for new and existing sports ministries.

Marla has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Iowa State University. She has pursued her Master’s degree from Drake University in Special Education. She and her husband Doug have two children, Nick and Emily.

Charity McEvoy - Communications Assistant

Charity·joined the staff in·July 2010·as·our Communications Assistant.· Charity's main responsibilities·are publishing our weekly bulletins and other print communication.· She·also assists our Youth Directors with their communication needs.

Charity has a BA in Public Relations from UNI.··She and her husband Clay live in Ankeny and·have twin daughters, Lauren and Emma.·

Bill McCollaugh - Property Manager

Bill joined our staff in June of 2003 after retiring from his position as a high school principal with the Des Moines Public Schools. His primary role is to oversee all church properties and rentals. Included in his role are mechanical, liability and property maintenance issues. This half-time position is on call 24/7 for any concern that might arise outside of normal business hours.

Bill and his wife Kirsten have five children. Kirsten is still a full-time Special Education Transition Coordinator at North High School in Des Moines.

Traci Schermerhorn - CLC Administrative Assistant/Web Specialist

Traci joined the AFUMC team in March of 2010.· Her main responsibilities include the AFUMC website and publishing our bi-monthly newsletter, in-Site(s).· Traci works part-time in the mornings at the Christian Life Center.·

Traci graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, IL with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management/Human Resources.· Her husband, Kevin works for Pekin Insurance in Ankeny.· They have two sons, Tyler and AJ.

Pat Stofferahn - Financial Officer

Pat joined our staff in November of 2006 as Financial Officer. ·Her main responsibilities are contributions, payroll and the financial records. She has an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Simpson College.

Pat is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ankeny.· She and her husband, Bruce·have one son, Andrew.

Melody Webb -

Chancel Choir Director·

Melody joined our staff in June 2010. She graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Music Education in Vocal/Choral Music. She and her husband, Thomas had been singing together in Chancel Choirs for 12 years in churches in Mississippi and Missouri where she was also involved in directing various aspects of church choral music, including children, youth and adult choirs. They, along with their three children, moved to Iowa in 2008, and all enjoy using their musical talents to support the music ministry of the church. Sandy Winchester - Executive Secretary Receptionist

Sandy has been a member of the church since 1980 and on staff since 1995. Her duties as receptionist give her the opportunity to assist people both on the phone and in person in the church office. She oversees the scheduling of all meetings and activities that take place at both the Uptown Site and Faith Chapel and assists bridal couples in scheduling their weddings at the church.

Sandy coordinates the Prayer Ministries of the church, including the Prayer Shawl Ministry,·Prayer Square,·and the Prayer Chain. Prayer requests may be directed to her at the church office. Sandy has been honored to be a part of the AFUMC Stephen Ministry program since it began here in 1996.
